Time Line: Billionaire Champagne - L.A. to Tokyo

I. "Runaway"
- Charlotte ruturns home from a night out with her only friend, Gwen, she's talking to Gwen about how she wants to just fly away and Gwen brushes her off as "weird " and "a freak" this leaves Chara sad. She ponders the nights events as she makes her way to her room, and then she hears it, her father calling her. She tries to ignore it, but can't he verbally abuses her and then attacks her when she breaks a beer bottle, he makes her clean it with her bare hands and stomps her into the glass fragments, she freaks out because of the blood and he yells as her more, however now he's kicking her everywhere he can, it happens so fast Chara becomes numb and feeling her teeth against her tounge try to call out for help only to find that she's gagging on her blood, that's when the hitting stops, her brother and mother are restraining her dad, she crawls out of the kitchen, as her mther tells her to "run." Chara manages to get into her room as she hears her father calling after her all kinds of insults, her brother knocks on her door just as she's gathering the few things on her dresser and she cuts the window screen open with a razor she's hidden under one of her pillows, she jumps out and out the back door fence and runs down her street not stopping, suddenly she trips and realizes that she's near the bus station, she runs to the on coming bus managing to get on it. The bus driver see's that she's a bloody mess and even though she has no money he lets her on. Chara silently sobs as the bus takes her to the last stop, a bus stop by the beach shore in Venice. The old bus driver gives her a twenty and tells her to go to clinic a block away. She agrees that she will, and she thanks him, she gets off however and heads directly to the water's shore, looking at the faint colours as the last ounce of sun is left she collapses on the beach. In her dream she's on a beach just like this one, and she's holding a hand, looking to a faceless figure, but there's something strange about his eyes, they shy away from her, and she says something.
    - "Modette kuru." Charlotte wakes up to a beeping noise in a white room, is it here that she meets a friend of her sister, and also Tomo, whom is her doctor's little brother and works as his assistant and a physical therapist. While caring for Chara they become friends, when Tomo tells her that he's in a band and going to tour at the end of the month they exchange e-mails, he asks Chara on a date but they cancel it because Charlotte's sister comes to visit her, Tomo leaves promising to e-mail Chara. Chara's sister tells her what happened after she left, their brother called the cops but her mother played it off as a joke, they took to the streets looking for Chara, asking her friends, thinking you might have taken a bus they filled a missing person's report, but that's when her friend called her and told her that Chara was just admitted to their hospital in Los Angeles, her mother and brother came to visit her, but she'd been in a indused coma because of the medication to fight the infection of the salty sand in her cuts. It was agreed that Chara was going to be pulled out of school and would stay with her sister's friend, because she was never really home and wanted a house sitter they agreed, she would also be enrolled into a GED program since she was pulled from school, and she brought a few things for her to get by on. Since he sister's friend was also hers it worked out but the first few days at the house Chara go bored and she started looking for a job she could do with her ribs cast on, so she began walking her neighboors dogs, then found a job at a laundry place a few blocks away from the apartment in koretown, it was across from the trendy asian shopping center. This is where she meets Seiko.
        - Charlotte gets a job at a laundry place a few blocks away from 's Apartment, it is here that she meets someone who  she often see's at the record store across from, Shou.
            - Emily and Charlotte have been hitting it off great and Emily decides to throw a party at a kareoke bar for her Cousin's birthday, Seiko.  here Charlotte and Seiko meet, at first Seiko thinks she's just a push over leeching off Emily, even making a point that the share she pitches in for the apartment barely covers the water bill, this makes Charlotte hurt, but after Karaoke Seiko changes her mind about Charlotte, because her voice is filled with a tragically beautiful pitch that takes her breath away, she saves to Chara apologizes and asks her if she wanted to be in her band. Charlotte writes it off but Seiko comes everyday pestering her, Finally Emily tells Charlotte to give it a try, she does.
               -  It's been about three months now and Seiko and Charlotte come to be good friends, Seiko also attends the music college, guitar and composition, even though she is the same age as Charlotte she admits her dad "helps" her out a lot. It is by now that Charlotte frequently see's the light haired asian guy come into the laundry place to buy drinks, he even asks her for change once even thoguh the machine takes dollars, he's strange she notes.  It is then that Seiko invites Charlotte to a concert with her friend, Shou, they walk across to the record store, and it is here that Charlotte notices her favorite band playing over the PA, it makes her somehow feel... at home, and it is here that she meets Shou, the guy who frequentts the mat.
                         - Seiko admits they need more member for their band which practice concludes of her playign guitar and Charlotte singing Loversoul covers. It is then that Charlotte recieves a call on her phone, her friend Tomo is playing a show in a few days and wants her to attend,  they go and after watching him play Seiko bluntly asks him to join their band, Tomo is skeptical, but after Seiko makes her sing for him, he admits he was going to disband after that last show, and agrees, but will need a week, his other motive to move back to Los Angeles is because his brother a plastic surgeon is going to be embarking on a mission to Africa to help children with cleff palettes and bombing victims, he and his wife will leave Tomo in charge of their house since she has no siblings and Tomo is avaliable.
                              - The time had come and Charlotte has recieved a voice message from her sister, after her phone died she's not gotten a replacement battery but checks her messages, her sister tells her that she wants to know where she is as she's gotten a new job in Pasadena hospital, she wants Charlotte to come live with her, they meet, and eventually have a chat about what happened after she left, Chara says she doesn't wanna live with her, because she doesn't want the possibility of seeing that man again. After a lot of convincing Astrid agrees, her sister, but tells her she will help her ONLY if she gets her GED. She signs her up for the program and sends her home with the required study guides and sets her test date 6 months from that day.  Studying and working, and practicing, Seiko surprises her yet again by asking her cousin Erin to join the band, he's been in many bands but Seiko asks him to play a show with them, the first gig at Tomo's place.
                                 - It is here where the Halloween gig happens, Tomo invites many bands to play, they will close, and it is here where Charlotte sets up Erin's drumset only to find a long haired guy smashing her face into a symbol and  shoving the idiot off of her, he tries to apologize but she just walks away angry. Her face now cut Seiko helps her out and officially introduces her to the idiot, whom upon looking at his eyes, falls in love...but she doesn't recognize the feeling, not really knowing it before.  he is also drawn to her, and Shou is also in the band, he immediately chatters away with Chara, but he quickly retreats to his gf Karin. The shows goes by great, except for when Charlotte's voice fails a few times, but closing with a loversoul cover, the crowd receive them well, it is here that  Haruka pursues Charlotte, they talk all that night until 1 am, where he asks Charlotte if he will sing properly next time, she tells him she wouldn't grace him with that delicacy, and he laughs, and they part as friends.  Things are looking up for a girl who didn't listen to the voice in side her head, but the voice inside her heart, and ran away.

II. "Rhapsody"
    - Haruka begins to visit Charlotte at the Laundrymat after the show he has often been doing this, and it's making Charlotte feel strange, he is a college student and living in an apartment with Shou and Saga. They are one of the few bands in Los Angeles that has a huge following outside of L.A. they play many shows in which Haruka often looks her way when he's playing, they gradually become friends talking after gigs, and he bringing her lunch at the laundry place, helping her study for her GED tests, they get to know about eachothers lives, he tells her about how he came to Los Angeles and how he was born in Hokkaido, about his father's suicide, and his father's family tasking him and his mother in in America, his green eyes, and his friendships and relationships. Charlotte however doesn't tell him about her past, she avoids the subject whenever she can.
           - Charlotte and Seiko move in with Tomo after Emily moves to Korea, Seiko not wanting to go and determined to finish her college year decides to stay, she moves in with them in hopes that her dad will worry. Charlotte's sister comes to pick her up for her exam, she meets Haruka when he picks her up from work, he introduces himself as Charlotte's boyfriend, Chara denies this but her sister doesn't buy it, she takes them both out and takes Charlotte with her as the exam will be near their old home. Chara see's her mom who gives her some of her old things, and bids her to keep in touch with her, she promises and Charlotte is left the GED test with a promise that a letter will come.
-Glorious Jane becomes an internet sensation with their promotional videos of them doing Lover Soul covers, both bands are interviewed for a local Jrock Indie Radio show in which Glorious Jane gains even more attention from fans across the country and even in Japan, this comes as a great shock as they are invited to open for another local band who is more well known in the underground Jrock scene. Shou makes it clear that he write some of the lyrics to his songs with Charlotte's Help to boost some buzz for Zetsubou Nation, which works since his lyrics are a great topic of discussion.  After the interview both bands go out to celebrate at a ramen place with Jrock memorobilia named "Batsu Batsu!" here Haruka appologizes for what he said infront of her sister, she tells him it's ok, but why did he say that? He admitts that he likes her a lot, and asks her to a concert of a band that is coming up, "just give me a chance," he says, she hides her feelings for him and agrees to the show, they continue to have a good time with the rest of the gang, and just as they are leaving Shou asks Charlotte to go with him to see the same band, this takes her by surprise, when asked why her Shou admits that he had an extra ticket and knew she liked the band, she nervously says she's already got her own ticket for the show, and turns him down politely.  He tells Saga about this who reminds him he has a girlfriend, and to leave her alone, "she's not one of your hero worship groupies" to which Shou says he didn't think of her that way, only to be made to keep this secret when Haruka announces that he's taking her to the concert. It is here when Shou begins to write songs for Charlotte in hopes that she will look at him.  The chapter ends with Haruka and Shou talking about their highschool days and how to Haruka it feels like "the tide is finally in our favor."
                - Charlotte looses her job at the laundry mat when it is demolished for a parking space, this strikes her hard since they need to pay the very expensive rent at the end of the month, Tomo working at a guitar school and Seiko as an undertaker is already bringing in barely enough to cover the rent, Charlotte usually payed for the utilities but after hanging out with Glorious Jane Saga tells her that they are getting new staff at really upscale venues that she should look into it, he gives her the ad and she calls immiditately, after this the concert is the next day and she meets up with Haruka at the crack of dawn, not having work and him taking a break from school and work they wait in line all day talking and getting sunburned, then it happens a few hours before opening Shou see's them in the crowd as he walks from the front of the line to the back, during the concert Haruka protects Charlotte from a violent memberin the crowd who is removed, embracing her with the excuse that it was for her protection, but she puts he hands on his and they sing along for the rest of the show, at the end the band decides to surprise the crowd and sell their own merch, this drives the fans wild and as they all rush past to the merch table charlotte Falls over and is almost trampled Haruka manages to pick her up and protects her by putting her between him and a wall as the pushing crowd pressed on him his maintains her safety by his arms and doesn't let them hurt her.  to eachother as the lead singer does and the rest of the crowd, what they don't know is that Shou is in that crowd as well,he see's this and leaves the show early. From this moment Chara and Haruka's Relationship begins.
                    - Charlotte gets the job at the venue but it's weekends only the pay is minimul but it will help with the bills. At this point the bands sign up to participate in another battle of the bands, this time for a major label and cash prize involved, the entry fee is $100 for each band, they go through a lot of random stuff furing this point including being kicked out of their apartment which bring them to the Garden Square Living Pots. This is the place that they turn upside down and the place in which Chara and Haruka move in together. Tomo decides to live with Saga and Nao , Shou has his own room which he planned to rent with Haruka, but they surprised them, Seiko decides to move into Her Family's town house, her step mother offers her help which she takes after failing to graduate, whichs crushes her, but she  says she'll just have to focus on music then now that school is no longer holding her back. She goes to work on creating a studio in the town house that they can use, only on the condition that Seiko join her step mom on all types of tidius things like shopping and going to the Spa.
Charlotte gets used to her new job selling tickets and merchandise sometimes helping out backstage when thye are short handed. In the meanwhile her life with Haruka is changing she still has a month before her results come via mail, and Haruka is studying for his finals, and on one night he takes Chara to the observatory where he shows her constellations and Finally Saturn, here she tells him that his eyes are just like saturns with the different colors, he jokes that if she ever gets lost to find him on Saturn.  They essentially fall in love and the group jokes at their expense, Shou remains a good friend to both Haruka and Charlotte and admits to her that he misses eating lunch with her to which she makes up for it by making him a cake for his birthday.  At this point Charlotte tells the reader that she never let someone dig as deeply into her life as Haruka, and that she's afraid that things are too good to be true, though she's barely surviving, she can feel a cold wind from the East.
Time passes and the time for the battle of the band, a lot of things happen in one week alone, preparing for it, apperaing on an online radio show with the other bands, and the sponsors pick and chose which bands will be performing according to their recordings that they submitted. They have an adventure as Seiko gets them a drummer last minute in her cousin Erin who just arrived from the airport a day earlier,

// I wish time would stand still, me like this, you like that."

I remembered not so long ago, I read a comment a friend made of me and of Haruka, she called him my Terry. I didn't understand it, until I asked Seiko, Seiko threw her entire collection of Candy Candy on my lap and I read them gradually as we toured in Hokkaido. I understood it then, that he was Terry, because he was just like him, his role in my life, but... did that make me Candy? Or Susannah? Because he stayed with Susannah? The reason I'm with Haruka now has nothing to do with him being guilty of me, what of? But, If I'm Candy, does that mean...that I'll lose him some day? Why didn't she run to Terry when she saw him on that stage? Why did it matter tht he had to stay with the girl who black mailed him into marrying her? Why? I do not understand it, if she really loved him she would have let him go, but i guess that's what Candy did, she let him go, because she loved him, because she felt guilty, because she felt her love reflected in another. the...

I met you that day, I lost my mind, I found my heart, and I could breathe again, calmly.

I was never a fan of what people call ' soul mates .' In fact, I never believed the concept had any standing in the real world. It's a fantasy that people tell each other, like there really is one person curated for our every wish and want and need. I think we have a say in this world, not a soul mate, but a person, tangible and grounded, and on that ground we find that ours is even, not a mound or a hole around us, and we can walk together on that path. The souls we seek are like this, on the same path, and they are our chosen family. I think that's a stronger bond, family, I haven't had the best relationships with my own kin, but my friends and him ...I think I chose them as my family. I wasn't used to the type of attention Masake bestowed upon me, I wondered if it was my voice, people seemed to be captivated by it, I'm grateful for that, but is that what he was after? Perhaps it was my body that attracted him to me, I am on the heavier side of a medium ...

//he became the sun.

There were things about Los Angeles that I loved, living with crazy seiko who loved to paint on the brick wall and make instant foods was fun for me, Tomos constant sleeping waiting for his shift at the Hollywood cemetery was comforting I studied at work when t wasn't busy but I wasn't hitting my assignments and my sister was worried. The thing I didn't like about Los Angeles though was that Harris didnt live here he was still living in long beach because his college was full on dorms, so he took the metro here every day sometimes his car he had a very nice Volvo, I wonder if he has money not because I want it, but because I feel embarrassed and somehow below people with money but unlike those girls that made me feel awful about myself and my household income Haruka has never given me that vibe, I wonder what it is and does it have to do with the tightening on my chest when I think about him, I feel as I'm passing a big piece of bread that is stuck inside my throat and...
