// MILES AWAY: "Aoiko Gahara"

A strange name, stranger than I thought was whom it belonged to.
My mom had moved back to Hakodate and she left the house in L.A. to Adagio, I was taking a break from my tour it was finally over and i just wanted to relax specially after breaking up with Ama, the last thing I wanted to do was be in Tokyo or in Japan for that matter.
I got my things from the airport and took a cab to the house, traffic wasn't that bad, but the ups and downs of the hills really got me sick, when I got to the mansion it was like another world, and I just wanted to take a swim and begin my four month break. The break was stratigically dated so that I could finish my last year at my collage USC, I heard my dad was a bit of a genius when it came to astronomy and that he gave that up to pursue music and he never got a chance to finish his studies. I think I might have inherited that gene because for some reason I can name every constillation and track stars and make charts like it's childs play. In some way I am a child here, though my worst subject is Literature this semester I'll just have to deal with it. I am also hoping no one will recognize me, it's the last thing I need specially after what happened.

Zestubou is finishing his last semester of college and a completion of a bachleors in Astronomy, he spends a lot of his time at an observatory near his home this is where he meets Aoiko, a sensitive painter who often comes to paint the scenery at the observatory, when he asks Zestubou to move from a place he refuses to do this and so he paints him in there unknown to him that his painting was on display in the same college the following week. This is when he confronts him and asks him why he painted him, he explain and they get into an argument, that is when an earthquake hits and Zetsubou protects Aoiki from a falling tree branch, though it was a minor earthquake it did do some damage, Aoiki helps Zetsubou who's arm was hurt by carrying his things and offering to drive him around, Zetsubou however is stubborn and just asks him to go away, but after seeing Aoiki's hurt face he decideds to let him pamper him, this follows Aoiki painting him more often, after seeing his paintings some very intimately painted he asks him why he choses to paint him. At this point however Zestubou's start charts are resembling aoiki's name in Japanese, he finds himself staring at him, these feelings confuse him, and then when he watches the way he paints he finds that his fingers are short but his hands look delicate, his face is oval shaped, his eyes are hazel his hair is dyed black. They fall in love and Zetsubou realizes that this is the first time he's fallen in love, and it was with a boy. This confuses him and he asks him mom if she knew he was gay, she admits to his surprise that she knew, he just wanted him to realize it first.  Adagio is also a painter and knows Aoiki from a few contests and gallery's though Adagio goes to a private college he knows him. In short as he's attending his semester he gets to know Aoiki better, and realizes that he's fallen in love with him. All those insecurities he's always had about Ama suddenly make sense, he was gay. He asks his mom whom is visiting if she knew he was gay, she admits to him that she did, but it wasn't her place to make him realize it he needed to find himself. He tells her that he loves Aoiki, but he's afraid something might happen, he's worried about the media and about his fan base, she tells him then things he's never heard of, about her break up with Masake, about how shortly after the public knew she was suddenly engaged to Haruka and that it happened in the blink of an eye she had to face a lot of criticism and hate from fans of hers and Masake's lots of jealousy and lots of demeaning things, but it died out because she ignored it. She ignored all of those things and instead of being photographed guiltily, she was happy all the time,  I was too busy being in love with your father that everything else didn't matter, I could have been on fire my flesh melting off, and I'd have been oblivious to that.

// I wish time would stand still, me like this, you like that."

I remembered not so long ago, I read a comment a friend made of me and of Haruka, she called him my Terry. I didn't understand it, until I asked Seiko, Seiko threw her entire collection of Candy Candy on my lap and I read them gradually as we toured in Hokkaido. I understood it then, that he was Terry, because he was just like him, his role in my life, but... did that make me Candy? Or Susannah? Because he stayed with Susannah? The reason I'm with Haruka now has nothing to do with him being guilty of me, what of? But, If I'm Candy, does that mean...that I'll lose him some day? Why didn't she run to Terry when she saw him on that stage? Why did it matter tht he had to stay with the girl who black mailed him into marrying her? Why? I do not understand it, if she really loved him she would have let him go, but i guess that's what Candy did, she let him go, because she loved him, because she felt guilty, because she felt her love reflected in another. the...

I met you that day, I lost my mind, I found my heart, and I could breathe again, calmly.

 I was never a fan of what people call ' soul mates .' In fact, I never believed the concept had any standing in the real world. It's a fantasy that people tell each other, like there really is one person curated for our every wish and want and need. I think we have a say in this world, not a soul mate, but a person, tangible and grounded, and on that ground we find that ours is even, not a mound or a hole around us, and we can walk together on that path. The souls we seek are like this, on the same path, and they are our chosen family. I think that's a stronger bond, family, I haven't had the best relationships with my own kin, but my friends and him ...I think I chose them as my family. I wasn't used to the type of attention Masake bestowed upon me, I wondered if it was my voice, people seemed to be captivated by it, I'm grateful for that, but is that what he was after? Perhaps it was my body that attracted him to me, I am on the heavier side of a medium ...

//he became the sun.

There were things about Los Angeles that I loved, living with crazy seiko who loved to paint on the brick wall and make instant foods was fun for me, Tomos constant sleeping waiting for his shift at the Hollywood cemetery was comforting I studied at work when t wasn't busy but I wasn't hitting my assignments and my sister was worried. The thing I didn't like about Los Angeles though was that Harris didnt live here he was still living in long beach because his college was full on dorms, so he took the metro here every day sometimes his car he had a very nice Volvo, I wonder if he has money not because I want it, but because I feel embarrassed and somehow below people with money but unlike those girls that made me feel awful about myself and my household income Haruka has never given me that vibe, I wonder what it is and does it have to do with the tightening on my chest when I think about him, I feel as I'm passing a big piece of bread that is stuck inside my throat and...
